I could relate having traveled with my rescue Lab/Shepard “Classie” all over, including 3 1/2 months to Alaska in a 21 ft old motorhome. I was widowed, so it was just my beloved Classie and me.
The engine went south in Utah, we spent 2 weeks getting it replaced, living in the mechanics car lot!
My wife passed with cancer after 4 years with Classie, but I had her 10 more years alone.
She lived 14 years, still miss her so much. We drove the AlCan hwy, but came back on the Alaskan State Ferry to WA state. Went thru Moab on the way home.
I live in Prescott, AZ and know the Southwest well.
We also went to So Padre Island TX for 3 winters to windsurf. Great spot to camp on the ocean, eat fresh grouper, fish and hang out with friends.
